Wrong Way Down

Markus Munford, Rabbit’s brother-in-law and seven of his friend’s are riding the first mopeds they ever rode, all the way from Scotland to ‘Spooner Row’ in Norfolk.

The fastest one looks like the Garrelli 50cc Tiger. Either way, it’s not so much a race as trying to finish.

It's all in aid of the Star Throwers cancer charity. They're going by the name of Wrong Way Down.

They're looking to leave ‘John O’Groats in Scotland on the 19th of July 2010 and arrive at ‘Spooner Row’, Norfolk on the 23rd of December 2011 ! O’ no, sorry...that’s the 23rd of July 2010 .

Thats over 700 miles on 1960-70 50cc mopeds in five days!

Click on the image to go to their site and make a donation, sponsor them or to get involved, I think this could grow into something really big in a few years.

Update:
I'm amazed...they made it back in one piece and right on time too. Not just one or two of them but all of them!
I never said it at the time, I didn’t have the heart but I just couldn’t see those old wrecks getting more than fifty miles!

There’s now rumours flying about that next year they’ll be crossing the country and heading for Ireland. If so they'd better not think they can just stop off for a few pints and then carry on...I made that mistake over there years ago. What we have over here is watered down, they drink the real stuff! b
As you can see by the image, they used the old 1920’s ‘group ‘n’ block method’ for travelling down our country’s roads.   It is a ‘pack’ mentality used by herds as a form of defence!

However this method brought various death threats by angry locals stuck in long tailbacks. And after Markus’ humiliation of falling off his bike at an embarrassing 5mph before such a mass tailback...it has been officially abandoned.

Next year’s event will actually be organised! No turning-up at the start still building bikes or forgetting the maps and drawing them out on the back of old fag packets. No next time they'll even bring a petrol can.   We’ll keep you up to date at GNWI on their next caper.

Rabbit tattooing Bryan on 18th of December, 2009. Rab said a tat like this would cost you about £40 ($64)...cool. Rabbit drew-up the design for this freehand, just before he started.
